  10.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To report a case of clinical regression and lack of
  11.        progression on a Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Burkitt type) during treatment
  12.        with Ganciclovir (GCV) in a HIV (+) patients with cytomegalovirus
  13.        retinitis. CASE REPORT: A 35 years old patient, HIV(+), stage C3 (CDC),
  14.        with a facial tumor that modifies the face is reported. The physical
  15.        examination revealed a friable tumoral mass in both nasal cavities.
  16.        Biopsy and immunohistochemical tests confirmed Burkitt Lymphoma.
  17.        Opthalmologic control revealed cytomegalovirus retinitis. Brain, thorax
  18.        and abdomen computed tomographic scaning did not show any evidence of
  19.        others tumoral masses. He was receiving antiretroviral therapy with DDI
  20.        before the tumor appeared as regular treatment for the AIDS, during the
  21.        development of the reported tumor he received acyclovir with no avail.
  22.        Treatment with GCV 10 mg/kg/d during 21 days was started followed by 5
  23.        mg/kg/d 3x/week and IV gammaglobulin 3 gr q4 weeks. At present retinitis
  24.        did not show any clinical sign of recurrence after 3 weeks of treatment.
  25.        There was a reduction of the tumor and it has not progressed in 3
  26.        months. CONCLUSIONS: Treatment with Ganciclovir was safe and able to
  27.        reduce the tumor mass in a patient with Burkitt Lymphoma.
